MARK TO PARTICIPATE IN LIFT FOR LIFE EVENT

liftforlife

Last year the Boston College football team got together with Uplifting Athletes to put on the first Lift For Life Event. A friendly weightlifting competition among teammates to help raise money and awareness in honor of Mark Herzlich and his battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. And today, Mark Herzlich will now be competing in the bench press event at the second BC Lift For Life Event! Amazing!

The event happens today at 1pm at Alumni Stadium. Please show up if you can. It should be fun.

Here is the letter from Ryan Lindsey, the BC Chapter President.

Almost one year ago, my teammate Mark Herzlich was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma — a rare disease that typically affects young men in their late teens or early twenties.  Mark has fought his diagnosis with great resolve and inspired us all.  Thanks to your help, George, my teammates and I rallied around Mark and started the Boston College chapter of Uplifting Athletes to raise funds for Ewing’s sarcoma research.

This Saturday at 1p in Alumni Stadium, we will be holding our 2nd Annual “Lift For Life” event and continue our efforts to benefit this worthy cause.  It is a fun-to-watch strength and conditioning competition featuring current members of the BC football team.  Fans will be able to take photos with players and get autographs after the event.

Mark has been declared cancer free by his doctors and he plans to join us on the field again this fall!  Our hope is that we can take what we’ve learned from this experience and continue to help others in similar situations by raising money to support promising research for this rare disease.

We hope that you will be able to join us this Saturday at “Lift For Life.”  Please don’t forget that you can stillCLICK HERE and help your favorite BC player reach his fundraising goal!

Thanks again for your support.  Together…We Are…Stronger!
