MARK SITS THE SPRING GAME – BUT IS RARING TO GO

interview

Last Saturday the BC Eagles hosted their annual Jay McGillis Spring game at Alumni Stadium. The crowd was thin but the roar was deafening when the team took the field. And among them again, Number 94, Mark Herzlich.

Mark did not play in the game but he was back in pads and itching to get back on the field.

“It was frustrating when I was suiting up for practice because once I’m suiting up I want to go out and get in there,” he said after he was finally done signing autographs. “But it was the smart thing to do to sit out [today]. There’s no need to risk any injuries right now.”

We agree. It was only a few months ago Mark was walking out of surgery with a new titanium rod into his femur to strengthen a leg compromised by bone cancer, chemo, and radiation. Take it slow. Get a full summer of workouts under your belt and let’s see you back at full strength before you start hitting people. I know for sure that I don’t want to be the first person you hit.
